Student Work Environment

Who is SAMO?

I am the link between the university and students regarding any matters related to your study environment; physical, psychosocial and digital. Your work environment includes everything from bad ventilation, broken chairs, and malfunctioning door buttons to harassment, discrimination, or unfair treatment.

My job is to make sure your voice is heard and your concerns are addressed. Whether it's about physical conditions, unfair treatment, or structural issues – I as your SAMO have your back!

Where to contact SAMO:

You can reach me any time through mail, or send in a tip anonymously(see the end of the page)

When Should you Contact SAMO?

If you feel like something is negatively affecting your study environment and you want help in addressing this or fixing it, contact me and I will help. Whether it be to direct you to the proper channel or representing you in the house councils(husråd) at the university, I will do everything I can to help. These are some examples of study environment related matters that I can help you with, but it is of course not limited to them:

  • Your physical study environment is essential for your study quality. If you find the ventilation broken, power outlets not working, wifi struggling etc. Don't hesitate to contact SAMO and they will make sure your concerns are addressed to the right channels.

  • Your study environment also relates to how you are treated and feel in the presence of your teachers and classmates. If you experience any discriminatory matters, such as racial, gender, sexuality biased, etc. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. (Disclaimer: SAMO cannot take any disciplinary actions however, they can represent and help you during the process and has the authority to follow up)

  • We use a lot of digital equipment and sites in our courses. If teachers do not upload the materials, links don't work, the digital tools required for the course do not pair with all computers, this is a SAMO matter. It can also be that AI etc are used in examinations by the teachers, this is NOT acceptable, contact your SAMO!

University Resources

The University offers a range of support for students to prevent issues from occurring during your study period. Here are some that might help you to improve your quality of education!

Want to Report an Issue?

If you have an issue to report, what I need is a short description of what the issue is. If physical or if you have documentation of the problem, please send that too.

(below is the information I need for different situations, feel free to summarize or use however)

If regarding the conditions of a room: Room number and problem.

If booking issues in regards to the room being too little for the class(firehazard etc): Room number, course ID and Instance number, lecturer in charge.

If digital: Screenshots and description.

If the issue you are reporting is psychosocial, I need you email and name to move forward with it. We can then decided together on what to do.
